A Taste of The Levante Section of the Way of Saint James
On Friday June 25th the Erasmus group from IES Benlliure together with three teachers went on a pilgrimage between the towns of Alzira and Manuel, towns that are part of stage 2 of the Levante section of the Way of Saint James. We were accompanied by members of the Asociación de Amigos del Camino de Santiago de la Comunidad Valenciana.
Every student was given an unofficial credential which was stamped in three locations along the way: Alzira, Carcaixent, and La Pobla Llarga.
In Alzira we visited the MUMA, the city museum, where we could see a model of the city in the Middle Ages and listened to the interesting explanation of Pedro Benedito Carrió, technician of the City Council and a historian.
It would have been our wish to have made this outing with the pupils and teachers from our partner school, Humboldt Gymnasium. At least these students can say that they have not only written stories inspired by the Camino de Santiago but also walked a section of it. We have this video as a nice souvenir.
