A.7. A SOUND MIND IN A SOUND BODY

  • A.7. A SOUND MIND IN A SOUND BODY

By decoding e-numbers and food additives in our food and estimating products' nutritional value, students presented a proposal for an ideal menu in connection with the topic of women stereotypes proposed by mass media. During the international project workshop in France, students have met a female nutritionist in the French school canteen, who taugh them how to conduct this practical investigation. Multinational groups of students made a set of healthy menus.

As a start the students watched the European Food Administration video about food and the additives: http://www.efsa.europa.eu/fr/topics/topic/additives.htm

Then, they listed the five additives among the most dangerous for human health and finded how harmful they can be.

Later, they conducted a survey  to know students’ eating habits. Each country published the results on a ppt presentation in e-Twinning using percentages.

Besides the made an investigation to see how fashion and food can be related: diets, fashion, models were studied. Here you can see the presi presentations made by all countries:

Durind the workshop in France, students presented the results of their investigations with a prezi presentation entitled: Fashion and eating habits. With the help of a nutritionist, students learnt how to decode a food label.  Then they tested a product (a candy) and see the relationship between additives and bad quality food. They did the following experiment:

They discussed an ideal menu typical of your country with only 2200 calories.  It included 3 meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner. They used the dishes pictures they prepared in advance (with the weight and the number of calories in each dish written on or at the back). Each country presented its  ideal menu (pictures set n°1) and multinational groups create weekly balanced diets (pictures set 2 to 5).

Here you have the final product:
