A.5. CHEMISTRY OF LOVE

  • Project activity A.5. Chemistry of Love

Students tried to demonstrate (or not) if love is all Chemistry or Biology, by using the scientific method and based on Investigations from Hellen Fisher, great antrophologist, who has found the reasons why men and women don´t feel love in the same way: Their brains don´t distribute their abilities in the same way. Students studied the three step pf love and how the following chemical matters affect different stages of falling in love: dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, testosterone, estrogen, vasopressin and adrenaline.

They conducted a research into chemical, biological and psychological aspects of love. Some scientific experiments connect to the research were tought in the Finnish school and their facilities in the biology and chemistry laboratory.

They presented the conclusions of two works:

    a. An interview with couples that have been together for different lenghts of time, answering folling questions:

    - how long have the couples been together?

    - what is love according to each couple?

    - what different phases of love can we find in the relationships and why?

    b. A video with Interviews to children of 6-7 years answering following questions:

    - What is love? How do you that you love someone?
