It is the unofficial anthem of marginalised and vulnerable groups.

There are about 700,000 people with disabilities in Serbia. Often we are not aware that there are so many of them. People with disabilities are a part of our community, and simply need to accept their differences. Often they need support, understanding and help to demonstrate their abilities.

About the song "Don't laugh at me" (source Wikipedia)

"Don't Laugh at Me" is a song written by Allen Shamblin and Steve Seskin, and recorded by American country music artist Mark Wills. It was released in July 1998.

Allen Shamblin was inspired to write the song after his school-aged daughter came home and confided that she was being teased by her peers because of her freckles.

The song is a ballad in which various characters, such as children who have been teased or a homeless man begging on a street corner, ask for acceptance from others.

Wills has received letters from teachers and students who have said that they can identify with the song's story. According to him, "everyone can relate to [the song]…Everyone at some point in their life has been picked on, made fun of or put down."[2] He told Billboard magazine that the song is "one of the strongest songs I've ever recorded in terms of dealing with life in general."

    Mark Wills Lyrics

    "Don't Laugh At Me"

I'm a little boy with glasses
The one they call the geek
A little girl who never smiles
'Cause I've got braces on my teeth
And I know how it feels
    To cry myself to sleep

I'm that kid on every playground
    Who's always chosen last
    A single teenage mother
    Tryin' to overcome my past
You don't have to be my friend
Is it too much to ask?

Don't laugh at me, don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
    Don't laugh at me

I'm the cripple on the corner
You pass me on the street
I wouldn't be out here beggin'
If I had enough to eat
    And don't think that I don't notice
    That our eyes never meet

I lost my wife and little boy
    Someone crossed that yellow line
The day we laid 'em in the ground
Is the day I lost my mind
Right now I'm down to holdin'
    This little cardboard sign

So don't laugh at me, don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
    Don't laugh at me

    I'm fat, I'm thin, I'm short, I'm tall
I'm deaf, I'm blind, hey aren't we all?

Don't laugh at me, don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
    Don't laugh at me
