  • Learning_Activity_in_Mielżyn, Poland - programme of the meeting

Zespół Szkolno-Przedszkolny in Mielżyn is responsible for ICT, Music and Sport, so the Learning activity in Mielżyn was focused on these subjects. Pupils were divided in international teams and participated in many activities:

ICT: Pupils participated in IT workshops in Poznań. They learnt how to programme Lego robots and they also tried to draw with 3D pens. At school, the Polish pupils taught the pupils from the Czech Republic, Serbia and Slovakia how to program the robots that they have at school.

Music: Pupils participated in a music workshop in Krzysztof Szkudlarek Centre in Witkowo – they learnt about musical instruments and they also sang some Polish folk songs. At school, they learnt Polish song Szla dzieweczka do laseczka and they also learnt a dance to the music of this song and prepared some decorations for the dance. They performed the dance on the last day of the learning activity.

Sport: On Wednesday, pupils participated in sport activities in Gniezno. All the activities took place outside. Pupils were divided in four national teams and had to cooperate in team-building games, “bubble football”, archery game and a task game in the forest. For lunch, they baked sausages on a campfire. In the afternoon, pupils learnt some old children’s games: Baba Yaga is watching, the Colours, Blind Man’s buff, Piggy in the middle  and hopscotch.

Pupils also learnt about history thanks to the excursion to Ostrów Lednicki where they learnt about the Early Middle Ages and the first Piasts who created the Polish state. In Grzybowo, they participated in six historical workshops: hunting, archery, pottery, writing in runes, fighting and playing a mediaeval game. Pupils also learnt about the history of Poznań and how to bake famous St. Martin’s croissants thanks to the cooking workshops in Poznań.

The participants of the learning activity were pupils and teachers of our four schools that participate in the project and also some members of local community who prepared the activities and workshops for us (the sport activities, music workshop in Witkowo, ICT workshops in Poznań, sport workshops in Gniezno, history workshops in Grzybowo and Ostrów Lednicki). The mayor of Witkowo and his deputy welcomed us for the learning activity – we met them in the Krzysztof Szkudlarek Centre in Witkowo. ICT, Music and Sport are taught in all of our schools and we learnt new activities that can be used in these subjects. The communication language of the learning activity was English, so we used the CLIL method to learn these content subjects. But we also used our native languages, German and Russian for communication, so there were 7 languages spoken in this learning activity. We took many photos and recorded some videos that we want to use for creating the tutorials for teaching ICT, Music and Sport in English (CLIL method). Pupils who participated in the learning activity will create presentations and videos about the activities that they learnt in Mielżyn and they will share their new experiences with their schoolmates. The Slovak students also wrote their diaries for each day of the Learning activity and evaluations.
