We took part in Codeweek and in Hour of Code 2021:

CODE WEEK 2021
Last week, our school received an award from the European Commission for its activities during the International Programming Week – CODE WEEK 2021. Pupils of the Class 2B with the help of third graders and fifth graders under the guidance of two ICT teachers invented a unique waste sorting system in a model town.
They reprogrammed the robots (ozobot bit) into intelligent rubbish bins, which after filling individually take the rubbish to the dump, whether plastics, metals, bio-waste, paper. The separated waste is handed over there and they return home completely empty. The unique thing about this solution is that the subject of the project came from the students themselves, who were bothered that the waste still often ended up in incinerators due to imperfect sorting. Another great moment of the project was the cooperation of several years – the second, third and fifth graders created the first part of the code “waste robots” during the Basics of science and ICT lessons and their cooperation ultimately works very compactly. In addition to coding, we also involved clever hands in the artistic design of the town (from the waste materials, of course J) and the pride of our school – 3D printer – which our ozobots turned into the colourful “trash of the future” with.
This project was awarded by the European Commission not only for its imaginative code solution or strong environmental potential, but also for its cooperation with schools abroad (our Erasmus+ partner schools from Spain and Italy), with whom we decided to use Code Week 2021 technology to environmental assistance.
Pupils from Sliač were a good credit to their school and town in Europe.
The second graders programmed a waste sorting system for a small town. They will tell you how they thought.
