Mafra is about 40 km from Lisbon and around 12km from Ericeira, a coastal town in the Municipality of Mafra.

Since 1987, the Iberian Wolf Recovery Centre, located in the Municipality of Mafra, with the Department of Animal Biology of the Faculty of Science of the University of Lisbon have been protecting the Iberian Wolf. You may find more information HERE where you may select the language.

Taking the route to the sea, we will come to ERICEIRA, the fishing village of the Municipality of Mafra that is about 10 km from Mafra town centre.

In Ericeira there is an important Non-government Organization named Skeleton Sea that collects trash from the sea to turn it into art pieces that can be seen in exhibitions in different places.
