Lectures: "Sustainable Mobility" & "Recycling and Circular Economy" (2019)

  • "Sustainable Mobility" Lecture

On the 21st of March 2019, at the Grand Auditorium of our school, the lecturer, Professor José Viegas, conveyed to us the importance of "Sustainable Mobility Development in Portugal", providing universal, safe, ecological and efficient access. Therefore, since Portugal belongs to the European Union, there is an increased need to adopt new alternatives to the means of transport that serves the population, such as micro-mobility that will promote positive changes in the quality of life of the communities, especially in the big cities.

The project group as well as a group from another Erasmus+ Project, other students and teachers attended the lecture about sustainable mobility.

The information we collected is going to be useful for Phase 2 - Presenting solutions to the problems detected in Phase 1.

First, we were taught by the ERP (European Recycling Platform) delegate, Filipa Moita, about the recycling of electric and electronic waste and batteries in Portugal.

The second speaker, Cristiana Santos, explained the operation of “Tratolixo” which is a company owned by the Association of Municipalities of Cascais, Mafra, Oeiras and Sintra for the Treatment of Solid Waste. It is responsible for the public service of treatment of Urban Waste produced by more than 800,000 inhabitants of the municipalities of this Waste Management System, for the last 30 years.

Once again, the event, open to the school, took place in our Grand Auditorium.

We acquired new information for our project and were very pleased to know that Mafra is an eco-friendly municipality as can be seen in the photo below.
