VISITO TO THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF FINE ARTS IN PARMA AND THE FARNESE THEATRE

    9th October 2019

VISIT TO THE FARNESE THEATER IN PARMA
On 9th October, thanks to the I LIKE PARMA Project, we children of the 2 A and 2 C classes of the Primary School of Fontanellato went to visit the Farnese Theater in Parma.
The visit to the Farnese Theater and the National Gallery is part of the activities of the European Erasmus Plus V.A.N.project, which provides for the study of local artists who, through the emotions expressed in their works, inspire the artistic works of children.
It is a very old theater from 1618, built by Duke Ranuccio for a wedding. The theater was built entirely of wood, it was destroyed in the Second World War and rebuilt as it was originally.
    ..

In 1618, when it was built, the theatrical performances lasted a whole day, only the nobles attended and occasionally there were breaks for lunch. They also ate during the long shows, in fact they ate sugared almonds, walnuts, pieces of cheese and sweets.
The theater was also used for the NAUMACHIE, ie naval battles. The lower part, at the base of the steps, was closed and flooded with the water of the Parma river and then small boats were brought in to simulate the battles between the ships of the Olympians.

VISIT TO GALLERIA NAZIONALE DI PARMA

Following the visit to the Farnese Theater, the 2nd A and 2nd C classes went to visit the National Gallery.

The National Gallery was set up between 1600 and 1700 with the collections of works of art of the Farnese Dukes and then continued in the following centuries.

The sight was a hunt for animals hidden in famous paintings OF Parmigiano and Correggio.  We found a donkey, dogs, a lion, a cat, two parrots and a centaur.

All these animals expressed feelings: the lion the strength and happiness, the dogs the loyalty to the master, the cats and parrots the happiness, the centaur and the donkey fear.
