Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland

We hosted our European partners and also our close neighbours in October 2019. It was a jam packed agenda that involved collaboration, discussion, cultural heritage, a civic reception from our County Council, a little sightseeing and some sampling of our local food and traditional music.

Our visit started with a special assembly in our school hall with a variety of music from our Grupa Ceoil and also from our School Choir. The visiting partners visited our classrooms and saw the amazing work that was being carried out by our children. We then visited the National Museum of Country Life in Turlough and saw some of the exhibitions that make up the culture of Irish traditions and are part of our make up in Ireland.

Our County Council held a Civic reception for our European Partners and presented each country with a gift to remember their time in Castlebar.

We also held some of our meetings in our local Education Centre which was where we first heard of this exciting project.
