    OLD PLAYGROUND GAMES

On November 7, 2018, during the physical education lessons for girls from grades 6c and 7b, classes were conducted as part of the "Healthy lifestyle" campaign. Students from grades 7a and 7c also took part in them. During the classes, the girls had the opportunity to get acquainted with often forgotten backyard games.

The big advantage of these games is the minimal amount of equipment needed to carry them out, in fact, a piece of string and haberdashery is enough. During the classes, the students managed to learn the following games:

    1. "Rat" - You will need a long jump rope or a piece of rope to play. One person in the middle turns around his own axis twisting the rope, the rest tries to jump over it, who fails has to change the person in the middle.
    2. "Cable" - Long rope needed. Two people spin the rope, the rest one by one tries to jump over it without touching it. As for the first time, the game turned out to be too difficult, so the girls played a simplified game called "The Clock". Each subsequent person had to make a certain number of hops through the rope depending on the time - the first hour - 1 jump, the second - 2, etc.
    3. "Mr. Sobieski" Girls are jumping rope by saying a rhyme

    Mr. Sobieski had three dogs

    Green, red, blue

After that, they throw the rope backwards and without looking, they say how many and what steps they have to take to get to it. Types of steps: tiptoes, regular and elephant steps. The person who manages to reach the skipping rope - continues jumping. In subsequent rounds, the type of jumps change, e.g. horse running, both footwear, cross, right leg, left leg. The first person to go through all the rounds wins.

    1. "Smik- smak - smok" You need a gum to play. The students hold the crossed gum and at the words “smik-smak – smok” try to step on it, raise or lower it so that their friends cannot pass through it. Each touch while walking changes the person holding the rubber.
    2. "Tens" - another gumball game where you jump over it in a certain way.
    3.  "Classes" - In fact, all you need to play is a piece of chalk and a pebble. Draw a man with spaces from 1 to 10, throw a pebble and jump across the pebble space in a predetermined way, but not to jump onto the line. The pebbles must be thrown in order from 1 to 10. The first player to reach 10 wins.

The games made a smile on the faces of the girls, each of them found one that she especially liked. It was another lesson that showed that you can spend your free time really happily and actively. This time, even without spending any funds on the purchase of equipment.

    OLD SIMPLE OUTDOOR GAMES:

On 9th October 2018 at two sequential lessons of Physical Education the students were taught Swedish game “Kubb”. The girls from classes 6c and 7b participated in the game.

Kubb is the game perfect to play at the beach, in the park or in the garden. It doesn’t require sophisticated equipment or skills. It can integrate family and friends. Thanks to simple rules the adults, teenagers and kids can play it together. And it was just the main reason to choose it for classes promoting healthy lifestyle. The game gave the girls great idea how they can spend time actively at fresh air without any earlier physical preparation.

    Game rules:

    To play you need:

    • the king – a toy block / wooden block about 30 cm high, with a base 9×9 cm
    • 10 toy blocks called “kubbs”with a base 7×7 cm and 15 cm height
    • 6 pegs / dodgeballs – 30 cm length, 4 cm diameter

The dimensions for game’s ground should be about 5×8m although they can be adjusted to the players’ needs.

The king is situated in the centre of the pitch. Kubbs are placed at the final lines of the pitch – 5 at each side. The king and the kubbs stand on their square basis.

The can be 2-12 players divided into two teams. They throw wooden pegs underhand. The game proceeds in rounds – the change takes place when the team throws all pegs (6).

Team A throws pegs to score a hit of kubbs of the opposite team. The hit / beaten kubbs are thrown onto the half of the pitch of the team which scored the hit and they become their kubbs (of team A)

Next the team B tries to hit the kubbs of the team A. They do it throwing the pegs, primarily they have to to hit those blocks/kubbs which were thrown at the half of the pitch of the team A. If a kubb (thrown from the opposite team’s half of the pitch) is not beaten team A in their turn may hit the kubbs from the line determined by the kube which is nearest to the king.

When the team hits all the kubbs of opposite team it may hit the king.

The team which hits the king wins. But when the tem hits the king too early / accidentally loses immediately.

The best recommendation of this game was the request of the girls to play it again, possibly at the nearest lesson.

    HEALTHY RECIPE COMPETTION:
