    2. KRES FOREST LEARNING TRAIL

The forest learning trail runs just above Železniki along the slope and ridge of the Kres hill. The trail was first open to the public in 2005 and is a result of teamwork of Slovenian Forest Service, Institute for Sport, Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Železniki, Slovenian Andragogy Center, Municipality of Železniki, Primary School Železniki, Železniki Hunters Club, Železniki Tourist Association, Bled Forestry and Forestry, Rado Lotric s.p. and Ludvik Schmid s.p. in 2005.

At the beginning the visitors enjoy a view of the Selška Valley and the wooded landscapes that surround the town to the peaks of Ratitovec and Jelovica. The length of the forest educational trail is 2050 m with a height difference of 110 m. Walking around takes about two hours. Along the way, visitors can read educational info boards about various tree species, sub-basins, the food chain, and wildlife. Due to the diversity of the bird life, bird hatches of different dimensions can also be observed.

Class 7 students spent a great autumn day visiting the trail. And here you can read one boy's impressions of the day:
