Aluksne municipality`s secondary school  organized creative workshops for children together with their parents and a study tour on the event "We are for clean Latvia!". Parents with their children were able to attend one of four workshops - "Tanagramas", "3D Origami", "Transformations" and "Learn English with pleasure". All these activities were part of “Erasmus +” project activities.

Workshop "Tanagramas' goal was to create a specific image of (previously given only an outline or silhouette) at the same time using all the given shapes, which are not allowed to overlap. It is known that it was invented in China during the Song Dynasty. The game develops logical thinking and imagination. 8 th grade boys led this workshop but parents with children tried to put the given figures of hare, fox, dog, and other shapes. During the workshop parents and children worked in one team and it was very great.

In workshop "3D Origami" children showed and taught their parents how to create 3D Origami pieces. Parents created a huge, coloured flower, which showed how each of us is different. The flower was very beautiful and each of the participants were glad for it.

The idea of the workshop "Transformations" was to show that we can repurpose bottle caps to create a colourful animals, flowers, insects, and other images. Our school takes part in environmental activities such as paper, plastics, electronics, batteries, glass sorting and collecting. Not all cases are transferred for recycling, many of them can be used in the learning process, as well as parents with their children engaging in other activities organized by the school, making the learning process more interesting and exciting.

In workshop “Learn English with pleasure " parents with children sang songs in English with movements designed to play the same table memory games on a variety of topics. Learn English and interact with each other is important for modern skills for both children and adults. Parents were interested to see how kids speak in English, and also themselves mastered new skills. It was very funny and joyful.

At the end students called their parents to the concert to say thanks to their mothers and grandmothers about everyday troubles and love and gave greeting cards and their grown flowers.

School`s excursion destination was to take part in the biggest-environment and healthy recreational festival for the whole family – “Green Belt” environmental festival "We are for clean Latvia!". The event was hosted by the World Environment Day Special emphasis on environmentally friendly and healthy lifestyle. Under risk group students and their family had been chosen for this activity. Activity expenses were taken from the project`s management budget.

 

Nowadays, when parents are very busy and don`t have the time with children, our created activities gave possibility to make better relationships with their children , especially, for young people with learning difficulties and for those who don`t have motivation to go to school. After the workshops was conducted students` survey on the significance of the event. In their responses students indicated that they  liked to be with their parents, to talk, to act together, to teach parents and they felt excited about it.
