Seminars and workshops Norway

  • After school activity with parents

In December, the students of the building department invited their parents to school to teach them how to put up a wall, carpentry timber double panel, welding together tubing and draw a blueprint. Most parents could not do this work tasks. The students got the opportunity to show what they had learned so far in school. After a good work session in the carpenter workshop gathered all for coffee, cakes, and a chat. Many parents uttered that this was the nicest meeting at school ever

Seminar for teachers and counslers at school.

In February invited the teachers in the Erasmusteam the school counselors and other interested teachers to a seminar about a small group of young people who drop out of school because they would rather be at home. These young people are kind and nice and has neither substance abuse problems or is criminal. They just don't want to go to school and would rather be at home where they can watch tv, film, series and play pc games or watch youtube. Some has been sitting up all-night and played with other gamers all over the world and can't get up in the morning. They have turned the clock and many have been addicted to gaming.  It is a silent youth group and many suffer from anxiety and depression. To the seminar, we received the visit of a psychologist and a youthworker who told about how they worked with this youth. They had formed a group for the parents of these kids. The municipality had also started up a Game House where gamers could meet and play. The aim was to get the kids out of the house and a chance to talk with them and help them to build self-esteem and to help them back to school.
