DISCOVERING MANRESA

Discovering Manresa is a different activity which is very engaging for the students , it is modern, different  and it requires the use of modern technologies and IT abilities.

We realised some time ago that the typical visit to the city lead by a tourist guide was usually boring an little appealing to the students. We decided to change that for a more interactive type of visit lead by the students themselves.

We divided the students into different mixed groups with their own Mobile phones. They were then sent to 8 emblematic points in the city and the old town ( medieval area). The students with a QR Reader had to find the different spots using a GPS Device in their Mobile phones. Once they got to the point they had to explain to their mates the history and characteristics of the place where they were. Then all the students were asked to take a Picture or a video of the place and post it on their instagram accounts.

The combination of the use of new technologies, plus the interaction of students from different nationalities plus the use of social media, made a very attractive combination and the students really enjoyed participating in it.

The teachers, meanwhile had a more academic and professional visit to the city guided by a tourist guide that  could answer all their doubts without the yawning of their students.
