Caixaforum Entrepreneurship Activity

  • CAIXAFORUUM ENTERPRENEURSHIP WORKSHOP

Caixaforum’s visit has two different parts.  On the one side, our students took part in an entrepreneurship workshop. This activity focused on creativity as a way to solve our needs and how those needs could open new occupational opportunities and all the business related to them.

First, our students were asked about different worldwide known entrepreneurs and what they have done. After having been identified, we talked about their experiences and how they succeeded in some of their projects and they failed in others.

The second part of the activity was how we can create products following a specific need. One sample was how a person could pay without cash or even a credit card. The students were separated in different groups, one student for each country, and all together they designed a wearable, specifically a bracelet. This bracelet with a NFC sensor allows the owner to pay when you using a vending machine. For example, somebody is practicing sport and they need to buy a bottle of water in a vending machine. It’s easy, just using the bracelet you can pay and you get the bottle you need.

Step by step, they realized their proposals, with more or less sense, were opportunities and business possibilities. After that, they saw that all t challenges indeed have a solution and there are many products in the market, and some of these products are known, and some of these products are already used by them.

The last activity was about connecting different products with some ideas, topics and their specifications. At this point, the students saw that they need to pay attention to a lot important things if they want to create a new product as the final users; price, manufacturing, design, and how the company has to be organized. A product is not only what we see, it  is much more than that.

The second part of the visit was the old Casaramona textile factory, an amazing modernist building made by Puig i Cadafalch architect. A guided visit inside the factory, talking about its history, its different parts   and how during different ages the factory was changing and adapting to the new needs, until now. Today the old factory is a Museum, and some performances and workshops take place there.
