A5-Report Phase 1

  • The initial part of this project began by a meeting ( First International meeting) in Montpellier from 2nd to 4th October 2018 with a few teachers from three schools, persons in charge of the project and parents involved in this venture. The names of people involved for each country were confirmed, the main dates were agreed upon, and the way the work should be laid out. The duties shared between everyone at each stage of the project together with the list of activities decided for phase 1. See Daniela Fraire summary regarding this meeting.

At the same time,Students from various forms ( 12 – 13 years old) took part in the suggested activities: A1, A2, A3a, A3b and A4 ( Questionnaire form beginning of the project ).

The works created with the help of slides or collages, drawings ( A1: individual presentations : family, house, pets and hobbies and Secondary school presentations: classrooms , library, outside, ladscapes) were downloaded on the E.Twinning platform and the Erasmus Stereo wiki site. These works allowed students to discover “ The other” through its tastes, its musique preference and how life is. The students from the other countries were able to see them and have a first impression more concrete than what they could have imagined. These shows are like a ' small opened window' and bring some sense to an exchange which at the beginning of the introductions seemed far away and dream like. The appearance of homes, school rooms ( exhibitions, library, work shops...) surprised many students, so did the surrounding landscapes. Answers collected while checking the assessment forms).

To realise successfully the exercise A2 ( E. Twinning first student live session) , The students prepared a few questions in advance to put to the other countries students for their first broadcast by internet. On Thursday 15th November 2018 ( 10 am - 11 am), they were able to question in direct and listen to the other partners answers. Some students played a piece of music in front of the others ( guitar, percussion), the others sang. This live session were pleasantly received by the students. Their smiles, feelings and comments made after the session showed us how they enjoyed the moment and that this exchange was important to them. In this vein they could truly feel how “the other” lived and share each other way of life many miles away from each other with emotion. Teachers ended the session by a small talk on the follow up to the project.

Following the success of this first live session, a second broadcast was planned for Thursday 13 December 2018. The students were prompted to sing ( Christmas song, traditional song) in front of the others and show some posters created for this meeting ( exercise A3a); The French group was unable to participate due to technical problems: they could hear the other partners but could not see anything on the screen which remained black. The Italian and Polish partners managed this exchange successfully. In the end, the students realised some logos for the project( A3b) which will be shown to the other partners during our time in Poland. ( April 2019). The students will have a vote and a logo will be chosen to illustrate Erasmus STEREO project.

All art works and activities are available on the E. Twinning website and on the three colleges website wiki Erasmus.

Last exercise of phase 1 ( A4): the questionnaire form. In total 170 students filled in and commented on the form and you will find a summing up in the appendix.

To conclude, with some inevitable delays, the students took part in many activities with enthusiasm and were satisfied of their productions. The three partners, students and teachers, successfully reached their objectives planned for this first phase.
