Raznovrsne tehnike senzorne inregracije uspostavljaju granice unutarnjeg i vanjskog vlastitog „ja“ i integriraju separirano i simbiotičko „ja“.

7th day of course „Digital Tools for Students with Special Needs“
The group of psychotic patients attended today their second treatment. As the relaxing music played in the background, we started to work arranged in a pairs so that each partner copied a drawing of his/her partner finished last week. It was allowed to add or take away some details or change the colours. Following this, we had named the drawing and described the feeling that a drawing aroused in us.
After finishing the presentations of an original and copied drawings, the therapist used a technique named „progressive mirror drawing“ based on psychodynamic theory that connects the fragmentation of the primary processes and the dreams of the people in psychotic condition with a split between the two states of their own self. The split is defined as „separate“ and „symbiotic“. Namely, a psychotic patient has the altered relationship toward their own self and/or toward the objects of the outside world. The primary characteristic of such personality is its disintegration.
One of the clients standing in front of the monitor - on which was his drawing and also the monitor detects all his movements – has followed his body movements describing the details of drawing. The therapist was talking to him and from time to time touched his shoulders.
Typical for this technique is the application of the various audiovisual technological applications which are capable of increasing sensory integration. Various techniques of sensory integration restore the inner and outer boundaries of the self, integrating the symbiotic and the separate self through the therapeutic communication that takes place through the integration of three sensory channels: auditive, visual and tactile.
In the end, after the group left, we have analysed the drawings of every individual, noticing that more serious patients had more opened communication expressed through the drawings which were more meaningful with more details.
