Lunar Eclipse

  • On 27 September in our High School began the” Night with the Moon”. For the Lunar Eclipse observation our students had been prepared during the science classes for two weeks. They learnt why the moon is getting red, what does the SuperMoon  mean, what all the Lunar Eclipse phases are and what is the best time for this observation. Students made posters which presented the phenomena to all school community and invited the students to take part in this school event.https://twinspace.etwinning.net/10301/materials/images

The weather was excellent and we could observe all the Lunar Eclipse phases with telescope and binocular. They were wonderfully visible. The red glare of our satellite in its full Eclipse phase awaked the biggest students fascination.

By the time of the eclipse students wrote songs and short stories about the moon and made some crosswords connected with the theme.

This happening was a spectacular beginning of the Erasmus+ project entitled  „ORIONS “ Observational Research Impact on Sciences which is implemented by six partners from Poland, Sweden, Portugal, Greece, Italy and France.

Our Head Mistress Hanna Turek , who is also the maths teacher,  is very satisfied that we are the coordinator school and that we can take part in such an interesting project. It is a very good possibility for our students to raise their awareness of astronomy, Universe physics and maths.
