The Sundials at Les Makes
Sundials indicate the time according to the position of the sun.
During our weekend at Les Makes, we saw 4 kinds of sundials :
This sundial is reserved to a perfectly East/West orientated wall and thus perpendicular to the local meridian.
The horizontal sundial is set on the ground, the edge of a terrace or on a base.
This sundial presents only the superior face which will be legible only in spring and in summer.
The reading is made on the superior face of the spring equinox to the autumn equinox and on the lower face of the autumn equinox to the spring equinox.
This sundial uses the representation of the terrestrial sphere on a plane surface, and the style of which is vertical.
This peculiarity allows to replace the style by a character.
It's a sundial which becomes a curiosity, a decoration or a game in a public place.

In this picture, we can three Makes's sundials : the Equatorial sundial at the top, the Horizontal sundial on the left and the Vertical sundial on the left.
