Fire resistant balloon

  • Fire resistant balloon

Goal of the experiment: The observation and the description of the action of fire on a rubber object.

Discovery of the water property of absorbing heat.

Materials needed: Two round shaped balloons, matches, water.

    Steps of the experiment:

    • We blow both balloons, one having water inside.
    • We light a match under the balloon that has only air. We can see that the balloon will pop.
    • We light a match unde the balloon that has water in it. The balloon won’t pop even if the flame reaches the rubber of the balloon.

The flame will heat everything that is places near it. It will heat the rubber from the both balloons. The rubber from the water balloon will become so hot that will make the balloon pop. The water from the second balloon is placed near the flame. It absorbes almost all the heat from the flame.so the rubber of the balloon won’t get that hot. Water is a good heat absorbant.
