Town life during the industrial revolution

  • During their bilingual history classes Year 8 students at Gymnasium Bad Nenndorf worked on the living conditions of workers and factory owners during the industrial revolution. They for example learned about miners' and workers' long working hours, the frequent accidents, the crowded tenements, the lack of fresh water etc. On the basis of this information the students then created dioramas, made of shoe boxes, illustrating specific situations in the lives of workes, miners and capitalists. They also wrote shorts texts which help to better understand the scenes they created.
