COLONIAL CITIES IN LATIN AMERICA  History, 9th grade.

    ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

The work consists of a small investigation about the main colonial cities of Latin America.

All the activity has been carried out within a context: the slave trade and the mistreatment of the indigenous, focusing our attention especially in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries

    METODOLOGY

The activity has several phases. In the first phase, the teacher explains to the students what iis a colonial city and how it is organized to serve the interests of the conquerors.

Once they have been informed about the topic in general terms, each student decides which city is going to investigate.

In any case, they should bear in mind that their work should include information on the origin, precedents and historical development of the city. So, the work should collect the history of the foundation of the city, its urban organization and its main heritage.

Finally, the results of the research will be reflected in an A3-sized poster board.
