A big problem in our society is to think that you only practice citizenship by voting in elections from time to time.
In the midst of the situation we are living (illness, death, unemployment, loneliness...), our boys and girls of the Erasmus Club have worked this December on a project: Operation Kilobora.
Citizenship means caring about the lives of our neighbors. Citizen is one who dedicates his life to improving the lives of people around him. Partnerships are a key element in building justice in our society. And you do not need to be 18 to be associated.
Joined other young people and different institutions in the city, the Erasmus Club has helped to promote the donation of food and money. These resources have been dedicated to organizations working for the homeless and families which have been specially affected during this Covid crisis.
In summary, the campaign has achieved the following results:
- Raising thousands of kilos of food and hygiene products in our school for charity.
- Collection of 2000 euros collected by students of the school through solidarity funds made with their own money and work.
- Donation of olive oil, meat and wheat flour by different companies in Santiago and nearby towns.
- Food collection in two supermarkets for ten days. 15 boxes of food and hygiene products were collected).
- Food collection at two football clubs in the city and a rugby club (4 boxes of food were collected).
The most interesting thing about the action is the interest in the activity to move forward in the following months.
