Collaboration with Austria St Ex

  • We have a project with a school in Austria. Two classes of Lycée Saint Exupéry exchange with two classes in Austria about their idea of quality of life. The aim of the project is to make students discover another culture, a different way of life, and consider how they could improve their own environment. They'll also pay attention to the 17 SDG goals in their reflections.

But for the moment, the students are just introducing themselves and they're explaining what the differents projects are in school about the SDGs.

    Description of the project:

Collaboration is mentioned by the UNESCO as one of the key competences for reaching sustainable development.
Within our project students will work together on the topics of quality of life and sustainability. An international collaboration with students from a different socio-cultural background should enable a reflection about the teenagers' personal concepts and the joint development of new concepts which take inter- and intragenerational justice into consideration.
The project follows a moderate-constructivist learning setting in which teenagers collaborate in conducting research and present and disuss the results via eTwinning.

    Climate change and poverty

Our project has developed and we've tackled the issues of climate change and poverty in our respective countries, big program!

We wanted to show how climate change has impacted our close environment with photos and videos. For poverty, we chose graphs that indicate the unfair wealth distribution between Reunion and mainland France. Austria made smart comments and used graphs also to share about poverty issue in their country too. Great exchanges you can read clicking on the link above!

    (Sustainable) Christmas in Reunion?

Also in a more topical issue, we've just sent articles about Christmas in Reunion wondering how we can individually have a more sustainable Christmast today! Here is an extract:

Hello people in Austria ! Let's talk about a sustainable christmas in Reunion Island.

Firstly, here, Xmas is happening in summer, so it's very hot and we don't need any heating and we make a lot of energy saving. Then, our christmas tree can be made with driftwood, a local plant or an old one to be more sustainable. We also can reuse our christmas decorations.

For christmas, our highschool organized a gift collect, we can give clothes, old toys and books, for children in Madagascar.

Finaly, our christmas' symbols aren't snowmen or real christmas trees but lychees and "Flamboyant", a big tree with red flowers. During christmas, in Reunion Island, we spend a lot of time with our family.

What about your christmas and your tradition ?
