  • Water experiment in January

We did water experiments both indoors and outdoors. In January it got cold and ice formed in the bottom of some of the toys that the children used to play with in the sand. The children began to ask and wondered how the ice got there. The children got to find out what happens to water if it is left outside overnight with the help of a small experiment. The teachers helped the children cut up fruit and filled an ice cube container with water. During the night they let the container sit outside and when the children came back to preschool the next day they could see what had happened to it. The children then got to taste their ice cubes. We wanted to show the children that it was as cold outside during the night as in a freezer. By using nature, we save nature's resources and electricity consumption.

We also ended our seasonal tree project. We have regularly gone to our school forest for a year and the children have taken pictures of the same tree approximately once a week. This is to see the impact of the seasons on nature. When do the leaves start to grow? What colors do they have during what season? When and why do the leaves fall off? The children have found it fun to take pictures and see how our tree has changed.
