During July, most of the preschool’s staff and children are on holiday, we have a 4 week long break from work. When we return in August, the plants in our flower bed and in our growing boxes have grown considerably. We then go flower hunting and the children get to take pictures of the flowers they find. Proceedingly we find out what the flowers are called together with the help of different apps, such as PlantNet and Seek. In the project, we will use digital aids and with these apps, the children themselves could find out and learn the names of plants and flowers. There is however a reason why we prefer to use Seek instead of PlantNet. In PlantNet, the names of the flowers are in Latin and English, which meant that we could not quite understand without translating the words afterwards. With Seek, the name of the flowers appear in Swedish and the children in preschool who have learned to read can use the app themselves and explore nature in an easier way.
