THE BURGOS PRESS WRITES ABOUT THE ADAPTION OF LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS TO VISUALLY IMPAIRED STUDENTS

  • The initiative is the result of collaboration between Ana Herrero and Susana Palmero, teachers of the University of Burgos, and Teno Osorio, from the I.E.S. Teguise of Lanzarote. The idea of adapting chemical experiments to visually impaired students was emerged during the 1st TMP in Burgos, where prof. Osorio told them about the difficulties encountered by one of his students, with visual disabilities, to carry out practical activities in the laboratory. Later, during the 2nd TMP in Chania and the 3rd TMP in Athens, the teachers discussed a series of experiments for the students of Lanzarote. In the framework of the project, some experiments with wine and must were included in the planning.

The daily “Diario de Burgos” reports that the teachers of the University of Burgos are planning to expand the initiative to two secondary education centres in Burgos, where members of ONCE (Spanish National Organization of the Blind) are studying. The proposal will be in conjunction with this organization.
