San Bartolomé, October 25, 2019. Last week the wines of Lanzarote were protagonists in Crete, thanks to the work of the Institute of Secondary Education (IES) Teguise. The educational center participated in a meeting with the coordinators of the Erasmus 2018 project: Enoculture. Start of Oenology in Europe. Preiloxérico grapes. In this meeting they presented the peculiarities of Lanzarote wine between

professors and students from Athens, Cyprus, Burgos and the Greek island itself. Without However, the objective was to know the vineyards of Romeiko - traditional grape of Crete-, as well as coordinating the next event, which will take place in February in Lanzarote.

In the meeting they put into practice the knowledge acquired by the students during the past year, in which the IES Teguise held different actions with the wines of Lanzarote as protagonists. Between they include prepoda and pruning of grapevine, cut, visits to the wineries Vega de Yuco and La Geria, or a day on the volcanic Malvasia.

Also, on the gastronomic level, they learned the wine service in table and bar and the preparation of dishes and desserts with references from the Island. The IES Teguise coordinators in Crete were also able to visit the Karavitakis winery or enjoy a guided tasting by a somelier recognized in Crete. In addition, the students held a workshop in which they had to create a warehouse; a project that must be completed during the Next two months.

• Profesores del instituto viajaron a Grecia para un encuentro con otros participantes del programa en Atenas, Chipre, Burgos y Creta.

• El Consejo Regulador colabora en esta iniciativa.

La semana pasada los vinos de Lanzarote fueron protagonistas en Creta, gracias a la labor del Instituto de Educación Secundaria (IES) Teguise. El centro educativo participó en un encuentro con los coordinadores del proyecto Erasmus 2018: Enocultura. Inicio de la Enología en Europa. Uvas prefiloxéricas .

En esta reunión expusieron las peculiaridades del vino de Lanzarote entre profesores y alumnos de Atenas, Chipre, Burgos y la propia isla griega. Sin embargo, el objetivo fue conocer los viñedos de Romeiko -uva tradicional de Creta-, así como coordinar el próximo evento, que tendrá lugar en febrero en Lanzarote.

En el encuentro pusieron en práctica los conocimientos adquiridos por los alumnos durante el curso pasado, en el que el IES Teguise celebró diferentes acciones con los vinos de Lanzarote como protagonistas. Entre ellos se incluyen prepoda y poda de parra, estaquillado, visitas a las bodegas Vega de Yuco y La Geria, o una jornada sobre la Malvasía volcánica.

También, en el plano gastronómico, aprendieron el servicio de vino en mesa y barra y la elaboración de platos y postres con referencias de la Isla.

Los coordinadores del IES Teguise en Creta pudieron visitar también la Bodega Karavitakis o disfrutar de una cata guiada por un somelier reconocido en Creta. Además, los estudiantes realizaron un taller en el que debían crear una bodega; un proyecto que deberán terminar durante los próximos dos meses.
