ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION:
SEPTEMBER 2019
ID: P9
PARALLEL STAGE: This activity is incorporated within each school’s science or geography lessons. Lessons on the topic may last up to two weeks. In the parallel stage, pupils learn about their country’s or district’s natural heritage. Emphasis is given on endemic species of flora and fauna, Natura 2000 sites, and environmental conservation. Where possible, a relevant visit and/or talk by an expert is arranged. Pupils are assigned group presentations on different animals, plants, sites, or environmental issues. Depending on available resources, preference is given to digital presentations.
INTERACTION STAGE: In the interaction stage, English teachers assist pupils in translating and combining their presentations into a slide show for each partner country’s natural heritage. Presentations are shared and incorporated into the lessons of other countries.
FOLLOW-UP: For the follow-up to this activity, see the activities NATURE IN OUR CULTURE (P10) and DESIGN STAMPS AND MONEY (P11), scheduled separately.

SPAIN: our Natural Heritage
This activity has been carried out by our students of 4th, 5th and 6th
grade at English and Art classes. They have made posters about Spanish
Flora and Fauna by working in groups of 5 or 6 students. It has been a
cooperative task, where children have practiced to look for
information by themselves, share it, decide what and how setting
forth, and translate into English by using web dictionaries.
Congratulations to our students by their great job!!!
On the other hand the smallest children have worked the trees that we have in our school.
The Lemon Tree.
