BRING A PIECE OF CULTURE TO SCHOOL

    This activity is ideal for introducing younger pupils to the project.

    PARALLEL STAGE: Teachers introduce the word “culture” to pupils. Instead of a dictionary definition, we focus on concrete examples of culture with pictures, sounds and videos. Children are guided in recognizing that culture is all around them. On a subsequent day, children are asked to bring a piece of culture from home to school—this could be anything, from a simple stamp to a family heirloom. They present it to their classmates and share its story. Remember to take pictures.

    INTERACTION/ FOLLOW-UP STAGE: A videoconference between classes, where schools are paired and pupils show their findings to their peers in other countries.
