TRADITIONAL SONGS RE-ARRANGED

  • ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

    March 2019

    ID: P24

PARALLEL STAGE: This activity takes place in music lessons. Participating pupils discover their culture’s traditional songs. With the guidance of their music teachers, they work on re-arranging the songs with new sounds and instruments, rendering them more fun and appealing to children their age.

INTERACTION STAGE/ FOLLOW-UP: Recordings of the re-arranged songs or videos of the children performing them are shared between partners. In follow-up lessons, pupils explore differences and similarities, both between each country’s traditional songs and between the methods used to re-arrange them. Additionally, all the songs are used in school and project events. Provided the traditional songs are not copyrighted, output is also shared more broadly on the project’s blog, TwinSpace, and school websites.
