OCT 2019-3nd LTT in HOLLAND

  • LTT in Delft 6-11 october 2019

Here’s our summary of the Erasmus+ week in Delft

    Sunday 6 October

All guests arrived that day at Delft Central Station and went with their host-families.

Monday was our first day working on the project.

All students gathered at our school to start with sports as a means to break the ice.

The headmaster invited the international colleagues for a guided tour of our school.

After their physical activities, all students from every country gave presentations about themselves, their hometown and their country.

In the afternoon we went to visit the Peace Palace in The Hague.

We booked a guided tour which included an explanation on the origins and history of the Peace Palace and the International Court how it currently operates.

We divided our group into two smaller groups. One group visited the Peace Palace and the other group walked around The Hague to see several sites such as the “Gevangenpoort” (Prisoner’s Gate) and the “Binnenhof”, where our country’s government is seated.

    Visiting the Peace Palace

    Tuesday

The day started with presentations about Human Rights 6-15.

Then we had a short break before we left by bus to visit the Gevangenpoort where the students had a guided tour through the museum and were informed about the Human Rights during the middle Ages.

In the afternoon there was a quest through the city of Delft. A necessary plan B, because the Central Organisation of Asylum Seekers were unable to give a presentation due to circumstances.

    Wednesday

The students started the day with a creative writing assignment.

They were asked to create poems with cuttings from English newspapers and magazines.

After a short break, half of the students were at the gym and the other half was preparing lunch for all Erasmus students and teachers.

All of us then had a big lunch together in the school’s dining hall.

In the afternoon we arranged a workshop with Stedenband Esteli about Human Rights.

The students played a game with a fictional island where they were to determine the rules and rights for the inhabitants of the island. Do we have one leader or several? Would it be a man or a woman? What do we do with new arriving refugees from another island? What do we do with cities (just one or multiple cities)? What do we do with the fish caught by one citizen? Share and divide or let the fisherman keep them. Etc.. Enough to discuss.

    Thursday

We started with painting tiles in a typical Delft Blue style.

Firstly, all students received instructions and were given examples.

Then they started drawing and designing on pieces of paper. After that with carbon on tiles and finally using markers in Delft Blue colours.

After painting and a short break, we gathered and the students filled in a digital evaluation form regarding the project week in Delft.

The day, and project week, was concluded with a game of bowling in a local bowling alley in Delft. Some of the students had never played this game before, so it was a lot of fun and for some a new experience.

    Friday

The Greek and Icelandic teams went home.

Bulgaria, Sweden and The Netherlands went to Walibi, a amusement park, that day themed with Halloween Fright Night.

On Saturday, Bulgaria and Sweden went home as well.

A fantastic week in the Netherlands with a lot of educational and fun experiences for all.
