Karlberg: Learning Boreal Forest basics
This is our first day on site. Swedish students have been working to prepare the visit.
All Swedish students in grades 8 and 9 go to Karlberg recreation area with the visiting students to learn about the species typical for boreal forests.
Especially trees, berries and flowers
After the walk. the group spends a joint meal in the forests and students get to know each other in person in a relaxed atmosphere.
This area is a typical Swedish forest with footpath. It is surrounded mainly by red pines and it is easy to find berries and flowers.
There is also a little wet area.
Foreign students receive information about the environment and handouts prepared by Sjulnässkolan in English and they walk together a footpath where they learn how to recognize typical plants.
To learn about this area, local students have create leaflets with information about food, berries and nature in Sweden.
