2.5. January 2019 in Cassà: DISCOVERING CORK INDUSTRIES

  • Discovering the Industrial Processes of Cork Industries

Last week students in Cassà de la Selva taking part in this project visited the industrial facilities of Francisco Oller SA with their parents and school teachers.

The interest was so high (more than 75 students and families) that the visit was done in three different days. Attendants were welcomed by Francisco Ollers PR, Aïna, who gave us a talk about Cork Industries in general and Francisco Oller in particular. Next, we would see how cork from the Gavarres forests and other origins is selected  (which are the different qualities and problems of raw cork) and transformed into champagne cork stoppers using high-end technology .

Francisco Oller SA acounts for 12% share of World Cork production of Cork stoppers an has 140 workers. It is a good example of investment in technology and human ressources.
