Music is all around us. Everyone has a favorite genre, a favorite artist, a favorite song. We listen to it while going to school/work, in the train, in the car and we dance awkwardly to it everytime we have a chance to.

Nowadays we have a lot of genres to listen to. From blues to funk, music has spread to every single mind.

In Portugal, most of people listen to Brazilian genres, like "kizomba", for example (not the best in my opinion, but we can't change the world right?). At the disco, this is one of the most "likely to hear type" of music. But Portugal is not just "Kizomba" (happily). A lot of people listen to pop (like one of us), rock, metal, hip-hop, R&B, etc.

Portugal has its own type of music:The Fado. It is usually sang by only one person (a fadista) and joined by a classic guitar and a Portuguese guitar. Nowadays,The Fado is considered Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

In conclusion, Portugal, like every other country out there, has a lot of genres running their streets everyday, but not all of them have what we have… our own genre, and we think we are a very unique country, not just, but also because of that. Portugal can be small in size, but It's huge for its musical soul.
