Algorea Competition
In our school, all students aged from 11 to 15 can take part in Algorea competition but it is not compulsory. Three times a year, they have training and qualifying sessions. For these sessions which last 45 minutes, the students can work alone or in pairs, depending on the level of difficulty chosen. Several programming languages are suggested.
The best students will be qualified for the semi-final and then for a final training course. Maybe after, they will be selected in the French team for the IOI (International Olympiad in Informatics).

On the 3rd of May, 150 students, year 7, went to visit Guédelon Castle, which has been built since 25 years using medieval technis and materials. Workers don't use any machines ot modern tools. Our students were quite astonished to discover that medieval people could raise a tower with any calculator. In fact, they participate to a mathematic workshop about measurements and discover that ropes were the only materials to make the shape of an arch ! Students could go around the construction site and learn about different medieval jobs

It is the French name for Bebras
The idea of Bebras was born in Lithuania,University of Vilnius. Bebras is the Lithuanian word for “beaver”. Bebras is an international initiative whose goal is to promote Informatics (or Computer Science, or Computing) and Computational thinking especially among teachers and pupils of all ages, but also to the public at large by extent. The big challenge of Bebras is to organise easily accessible and highly motivating online challenge in many countries.
The first Bebras challenge was organised in Lithuania in 2004 and has quickly spread across the world. The challenge is composed of one main test without any selection of students. The challenge has two types of tasks: a multiple choice questions and interactive problems. Number of tasks varies year-by-year from eighteen to twenty four questions of different difficulty to be solved in 40, 45 or 55 minutes. For each multiple choice question a choice of four answers is provided.

France, September 2016
On September, 26th all the pupils in the 6ème 6 went to the palace of Versailles to work on the theme "In pursuit of the blue gold".
With our guide, we made some experiments with communicating vessels. And above all, we took part in an orienteering race whose aim was to solve enigmas about geometry in the gardens. We made a stop in front of some "topiaires" (the adjective in English is "topiary"): a "topiaire" is a shrub or a tree trimmed into geometric forms, animal and even human shapes. Some pupils drew them.
At the end of the afternoon, we sat on the grass near a giant atomizer. I loved this outing at the place of Versailles (even if it was hot), it was very interesting.
Pauline: "I liked it. It was great because we went for a walk in the park and we were alone sometimes. The enigmas were very funny!"
