Zakladna skola Benkova 34 SLOVAKIA

  • Zakladna skola Benkova 34 is a public school with almost 90 educators and 1000 pupils. It is established by the town of Nitra. Our students come from different social backgrounds.

School´s main scope is to provide general education on primary level – students study in our school for nine years – this period is divided into two levels – ISCED 1 (6 – 10 years old) and ISCED 2 (10 -15 years old).

The educational process is developed in common classes but also in classes designed especially for children with general intellectual giftedness. There are children with special educational needs included in common classes. School is fully equipped with modern technologies – there are seven ICT rooms, two multifunctional rooms, a library, and other specialized labs. Tablets and other touchscreen technologies are frequently used throughout the school curriculum. School´s curriculum is based on given national standards but we focus on the development of ICT skills and language learning.

We also offer a great variety of extracurricular activities – clubs for pupils to spend their free time in the afternoon.

We want our school to be safe. That´s why we run Pupil´s Parliament for almost 10 years and why we develop preventive programs in the area of human rights protection – we are constantly trying to fight against addictions and all the forms of violence

and bullying (and cyberbullying). As we work with students every year we monitoring a declining interest in science, especially in mathematics. We want to stop this process at an early age by engaging children in other activities involving research, observation, and explicit mathematics. We want to show the importance of science, the diversity of cultures, and develop an open-mindedness to the nationalities and religions of the others.

We have set up a project team of 10 experienced teachers, who have been working for some years, know well specific of the process, and are able to substitute each other. The team has set its work strategy as well.r teachers are ready to share their experiences integrating practical work in academic learning.
