Art for Recycling, Recycling for Art

  • All participating schools started recycling campaigns at the beginning of the school year as a curricular integrated task agreed on the project´s objectives with an Innovative and Creative Focus. Parallel activities were prepared to later be shared at the live event in Torremolinos.

The baisc principle of our work has been that Recycling helps protect the environment. It reduces the need for extracting, refining and processing raw materilas, saving energy, and  reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which helps to tackle climate change. We have wanted to take a step further and create awareness in our students using creativity, giving products a second life as artistic products

Using recycled materials, and a lot of creativity, there is no doubt that these art pieces are definitely not rubbish and students learn to aprehend recycling with a different perspective. The Living Guernika is a work that students have created from scratch, from used cardboards, newspapers, nails, hubcaps, in the making of the emotional recycling unit integrated at IES Costa del Sol for many years. The performance serves for the recreation of the story behind every piece, to understand the motifs and explanation of Pablo Picasso's intention.

School communities participated in collecting recycled materials and students collaborated as a final task in assembling the the 3D recycled milk carton letters  of the projects`name: "Green Alliance". Students' key competences, have been developed through teaching, learning and training activities for the six schools for the event "Andalusian Green Living"" in Torremolinos (C5), were all project participants joined.
