  • Excursion to the Planetarium

On June 24 2021, students 4.A and 4. B took part in an excursion to the Planetarium in Žiar nad Hronom. Not only did they get new information about the planets of the solar system and the Sun, but they also repeated what they already knew about the planets from science lessons.

They learned what light pollution is and became acquainted with the sources of this pollution, which is the reason for the deterioration of space observation conditions. They learned that light pollution is caused not only by satellites and space debris, but also by the people themselves, that pollution also arises from the light of street lamps, light billboards or illuminated cultural monuments such as castles and chateaux.

They talked briefly with a planetarium employee about total air pollution from exhaust fumes, forest fires, ammonia released in agriculture, coal-fired power plants, volcanic eruptions that affect the quality of the air we breathe and affect our health.
