The supermarket takes responsibility for the planet.

  • Pupils and staff at St Julian's School in England have been asking the supermarkets what they are doing about excessive plastic in their products. They demonstarted outside the local supermarket and even made it into local newspapers, who were very impressed with our pupils stand against the global plight of plastic pollution.

Arden School has been part of a bigeffort in our community to make children and youth get to know their local industries and companies to learn more about which jobs to take when they grow up and also see how the labor market works and how they also try to work with sustainability. Our 6th Graders went to a store where they learned about the job and how the store tried to have as little waste as possible and send their cardboad and plastic waste to be reused.

They tried to make few sandwiches at the time so nothing was wasted.

In the fridge they put new meat below so the oldest gets sold first and do not go to waste. The cardboard is put in a mashine to compress it and send it to reuse.

Every day the store have a place called STOP WASTING FOOD, so that people buy the stuff that is too old, but actually still can be used.We were lucky to try to order fresh fruit to the store.
