Art and Design using recycled materials

  • Pupils at St Julian's in England recently engaged in a creative week around the theme of respect, Re-use, Recycle. We had a whole school orchestra , led by the Welsh chief Timpanist Patrick aka Eco Warrior. Instead of using ordinary instruments, we used many that we had made out of recycled materials. We performed to parents with our musical chant ' SINGLE USE PLASTIC IS NOT SO FANTASTIC!!'

We also created a huge turtle and jellyfish out of plastics and rubbish. This was to highlight the plight that these marine creatures are suffering. If we don't act soon then the only sea creatures that will be left are ones made of plastic!!

Reception and Year 1 chlldren at Shoscombe have been learning about the penguins of Antarctica, and the problem of plastic pollution in the oceans. We all collected empty milk bottles.

Each child has used their empty milk bottle to create a penguin,  adding other recycled materials.
