MATH AND GEOGRAPHY

  • Math and Geography (January - March 2019)

    As a part of the project activities, during these classes students will

    a) plan their day trip: - work with maps to find possible route from A to B , choose the shortest one and convert centimeters to kilometers according to scale and convert to miles; work out how long it might take to travel to their destination on a coach that averages a speed of Xkm/h (convert to m/h); work out what time they would need to leave school in order to arrive at a specific time or what time they would get there if they left school at a specific time

    b) calculate the difference in local times (partner schools) based on the difference in longitude;

    c) Students based on the MAP and the perpendicular bisector identify a place that is halfway between the partner schools. They suggest a city where they could meet to have a similar length of travel.
