5.3. Metabolic balance (Terni, November 2019)

  • Mobility to Terni from 4th to 8th November 2019. 

     

    Activities before the mobility: 

    1. Add a post on the padlet below, you can work individually and/or in small groups in class and search for info on Metabolism. Watchthis video and while watching try to answer to the questions below. 

      

    - What do sicentists at Nasa believe about metabolism?

    - What is anabolic metabolism?

    - What is catabolic metabolism?

    - Where do metabolic reactions take place?

    - In cellular metabolism, what do cells build?

    - What are evenergy molecules useful for?

    - What have scientists studying the origin of life discovered?

    - When does the citric acid cycle start? how does it work? Why is this important? 

     

    Then  write a post in the padlet writing your name and country. You can also add photos or other videos that you think are useful to everyobody to get to know more about this topic. 

     

    2. Reply to the question in the forum here, read the posts of your mates and give feedback to them. 

     

    3. My food diary: print and fill in the chart below at least for a week.

    Activities during the mobility 

    Day 1

    Arrivals

    All the groups from the partners school arrived in TERNI and met their host friends and families, they were invovled in some ice breaking activities. 



    Welcome dinner with the teachers in Terni 

    Day 2

    Welcoming ceremony at L. Da Vinci school: concert and presentation of the activities. 

     

    Students then played some popular games in the gym with the aim of letting be aware of the fact the movement is important and that you can move not only if practicing a sport but even playing games with friends in a gym in a garden, in a yeard. 

     

    After that they workied in mixed nationality teams to create leaflets on metabolism. 

    and wrote question for the interviews to the fencing champions. 

    In the afternoon they visited the museums at CAOS and each team was asked to take a picture in front of a work of art that made them think of food and/or movement. 
     

     


    Day 3

    Day trip to Rome: students and teachers put into practice what they learnt on day 2: movement is very important to boost our metabolism so ... let's walk around in Rome! 

     

    Day 4

    Welcoming ceremony at "O. Nucula" School

    Students and teachers attended a seminar on food and metabolism by two nutritionists of Terni Donatella Pitasi and Maria Letizia Leonardi. After the seminar students worked in mixed nationality teams and created "ideal menus"

     

    In the afternoon students and teachers had a walking tour of Terni and some Italian students, who took part in a PON project last year, were "tourist guides". 

     

     

    Later a visit to the fencing sports centre "Circo Scherma di Terni" took place. Students had thechance of meeting european and national fencing champions and the master of the olympic champion too. They asked questions, visited the centre and saw the training sessions. 

    Day 5

    Visit to the Chambre of Commerce: at the Chambre of Commerce they explain what they do and the importance of food connected to the territory. 

     

    Delivering certificates of attendance

    Lunch together prepared by students of the catering school of Terni "IISPTC Casagrande- Cesi" 

     

    During the mobility the teachers had the chance to stay together, talk, compare different school system, cultures and had fun too!
