Ula, Vita and Marja put down the instructions to make coils.

YOU NEED:

·        a tube

·        foam

·        pins

·        a sewing needle

·        black thread

·        a long black ribbon

·        up to 10 ribbons of different colours

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1

Take the tube and twist it into a circle.

Step 2

Wrap the foam around the tube. Use pins to fix the foam.

Step 3

Take the long black ribbon and wrap it around the foam three times - always on the same spot.

Step 4

Place one coloured ribbon horizontally over the black one. Sew one end of the coloured ribbon under the black ribbon. Choose another coloured ribbon, place it next to the firts one and sew it on top of the black ribbon. Repeat, using a different ribbon each time.

Step 5

Take the loose end of the black ribbon and wrap it around the foam so that it covers all the others ribbons at the beginning and then pull every other coloured ribbon so that you get the following chechered board-like pattern: black-coloured-black-coloured-black-coloured-black, etc.

Step 6

Continue wrapping the black ribbon over the coloured ones, pulling out every other coloured ribbon till you make a full circle.

Step 7

When you are done sew all the ribbons together.
