  • WORKSHOP: The Last Supper  restoration of Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece

    We are visiting The Last Supper tomorrow, that´s why we should be prepared in order to appreciate what we will actually see. So, we spent this morning in the school sharing information about this masterpiece presented by some Italian students some of them involved in an importany project with Bicocca University Leonardo's Eternal Last Supper. The project is followed by Prof. Bolzacchini, Dott.ssa Rostagno, Prof. Zuccoli from Bicocca University Milan and Dott. Cappadonna the students' tutor. The project has been awarded in the competition: I giovani e le scienze FAST 2019, the italian edition of the european STEMFAIRNET project  for students ( from 14 to 20) who mean to be involved in scientific carreers. 

    Leonardo's Eternal Last Supper 's next step will be in INTEL ISEF 2019 Phoenix Arizona. Our ABC Calendar is involved in this project through the below-uploaded questionnaire too.

    WORKSHOP:The Vertical Towers 

    The second part of the morning in the school was dedicated to the workshop about vertical forest - discussing this topic with Mrs. Bertolotti

    VISIT: Milan (Old Milan: Castle, Duomo - Modern Milan: Vertical Towers, Tree Library)

    We started our sighseeing tour in Milan at the Castle, we passed through Milan Business Area where the Stock Exchange is located( Piazza Affari) with its modern art building and monuments; then we went to Duomo, Vittorio Emanuele Gallery and we admired a lot of art that Milan offers us, Design week in Brera inlcuded. Finally, after the long walk we stayed in front of something special - Vertical Forest Towers.

    Group 7

    1. It means that we're preserving the cultural heritage, the history of the paintings and the different kinds of art all around us. We have to pay attention and maintain the importance of the peoples opinions.
    2. Milan is the city with the highest level of smog. for this reason, the people wants to change this fact. There isn't enough space to build big parks, so the purpose is to create another way of adding nature to the city.
    3. It was very impressive and unique. Really beautiful and incredible.

    Group 6

    1. Working carefully we can preserve the works of art through the years. Doing this, future generations will be able to appreciate the cultural heritage.

    2. Nowadays we do not have enough space for nature to grow in the cities. We can add more plants and trees building vertical forests.

    3. Plants are very important for our planet and building vertically it is an innovative strategy to take advantage of vertical space.

    Group 5

    It implies that accuracy and patience is needed in order to restore the art without ruining it. This is important so that we can preserve our works of art for the future generations s they are part of our history and cultural heritage.

    The vertical forests provide enviromental support for the city of Milan, which is important as they help reducing the levels of pollution in the city.

    The vertical forests were really cool. Us italians are very proud of these Vertical Towers, they're awesome.

    GROUP 2

    1. the restoration of a work of art implies passion, patience and a lot of time.

    2. the vertical forest provides the elimination of smog and the production of oxygen, and in this way, adding trees in the buildings, we can improve the air quality.

    3. we enjoyed the vertical forest because are ecological models, original and they use the green technology system with densification of nature.

    1.It consists of using various techniques and methods to keep the work of art safe, so that many other generations can get the chance to see that masterpiece.
    2. We think that they are two amazing buildings,with an incredible structure and a very interesting design. The plants that are around the buildings make it even more beautiful.It's also an innovative idea as they contribute to improve the environment. The designer had a really creative idea in his mind.
    3. In our opinion we think that the activities were very fun and we enjoyed every single moment of them.

    1) Skills, time and dedication can conserve every piece of art, which is important for our cultures. The restoration implies that a lot of people are focused on the same aim, which is the artistic heritage preservation.
    2) we enjoyed the buildings we saw, they were well designed.
    3) we think that these buildings are really important for our environment and our city. We hope that in the future there will be more buldings like those.

    Group 1.

    1. The restoration of a work of art implies a lot of knowledge. Every work of art is made of different materials and therefore needs different types of restoration. The person who has to fix a masterpiece has to be a professional.
    2. it's a smart way to increase the number of green places, decrease pollution thanks to the plants that clean the air out and it's aestethically pleasing thanks to the innovative design.
    3. Vertical Towers are breathtaking on the outside, but it would've been amazing to visit the inside as well.

    Group 8

    1. The restoration of work of arts is basically all the work that can be done in order to conserve it or maintain it. It is normally done by experts who know how to treat the work of art in the safest way possible and who's intention is to perserve our cultural heritage and the history behind it.

    2. We are really greatful about the Vertical Forest project because it's a great way of introducing nature into our cities. Nowadays, problems like lack of green spaces and contamination are really affecting cities and the environments we live in. With this project we are contributing to the resolution of them.

    3. We loved walking through the streets of Milan. We really enjoyed the city and how the Design Week had changed it. There was art all around and we loved it.
