Italy - Day 4

  • MEETING: Local Authorities and the Press

We are becoming famous, the local authorities  visited us and thanked us for the work we are doing. They were pleased to meet young people commited to appreciating works of arts and to preserving and boosting cultural heritage for future generations

VISIT: Let's visit  the artistic monuments of Monza

We made a last visit of cultural heritage in the city Monza. Because of the rain we couldn´t visit one of the largest garden in Europe, but we could see the Royal Palace and The Duomo. Some of us entered to admire the architecture. Now we can understand why it is considered the UNESCO´s monument.

And as fighters for a better future, we are preparated to fight everything, the weather included.

    TODAY´S ACTIVITIES

Answer the next questions, you can add an interesting photo related to our today's activities .

    1. Local Authorities and the Media: Do you think that it is important to meet the authorities and the media when you carrying out a project like ABC Calendar for the Future? Why?

    2. General reflection 1: What can  monuments, paintings, buildings, etc. represent in your opinions? Are they just lifeless stuff?

    3. General reflections 2: In this mobility you have seen some important monuments and you have heard about minor ones and you have met people who care about them, anyway. Do you think the importance of the monument is essential when you have to preserve it? Give reasons.

    4. Do you want to add anything? (Focus on today´s activities?)

  • Today's Activities

    GROUP 2

    1. we think that is important because we can be an example for other schools, we worked hard and we have to share our results and encourage other people to do that.
    2. In our opinion these monuments are beautiful and everyone should visit them for their artistic culture. They are very productive because everyone can give his own special definition about art, that's the best part and side of the world.
    3. We think that we should preserve them whether they're important or not, because it is a part of history and other generations should get to see those monuments, even if they're not that important. But we should have more care with those that are more known and famous.
    4. It was a pity that it was raining, because we could have seen more stuff if there was a better weather.

    Group 1

    1. Yes, local authorities and the media are a great way to share our project with the rest of the world and can help us making our ideas coe to life.
    2. they're part of our past and represent an fundamental part of our culture. It is important to take care of them for the future generations.
    3. it's important for business and tourism, but minor monuments need to be preserved as well as they're part of our culture too.

    Group 5

    1.
We believe it is good that the authorities acknowledge the work of ERASMUS and its importance. It is also important because it increases the whereabouts of ERASMUS as more people will get familiar with the project. This is also very important for the project's future generations.

    2.
The works of art always serve to remind us about our past and the historical events that have taken place. By studying or watching them, one can get a deeper understanding of how life was then and how it has developed to what it is now.

    3.
No, the importance does not matter. Every piece of art serves as a piece of our history and deserves to be treated as such. Just because a certain work of art has received more attention, does not mean that the other works of art aren't worth preserving. They could be very important when it comes to understanding our past

    4.
    :)

    Group 6

    1. Yes, Media can help to spread the project and allow other people to find out more about it.

    2. the monuments, paintings, buildings etc can represent basically everything, our feelings, our mentality and important events from the past. Every work of art can reflect different things depending on the person.

    3. The first day we talked about the Pilastrello which is a neglected church and we met the representative of the association who cares about the church. This is the proof that one person can make a difference and the importance of the monument is not essential.

    4. It is a pity that we could not see the royal garden beacuse of the weather and that the church was under reconstruction.

    Group 7 pt.1

    1. Yes, because it's important that the project is known by everyone and what it means for the future generation. Since it involves more countries than just one it's important that the information comes out to everyone because not everyone has this possibility to travel and see new cultures.
    2. The paintings reflect emotions and churches are places where everyone is safe. The buildings can represent an economy that is blossoming. Monuments represent the history.
    3. We don't think that it matters when it comes to the restoring. This is because all works of art carry some kind of history or memory. A painting is equally important as a vase even though the architecture or the structure may differ.

    Group 7 pt.2

    4. Even though it was raining we could still see the details on buildings like the villa and the cathedral. The possibility to watch and participate in the exhibition was greatly appreciated by the students of the Erasmus project.

    Group 8 (part 1)

    1. We don't think meeting authorities or the media is important when carrying out projects like this one. We think that it's important to have teachers that guide us through this whole experience, but we don't think meeting this people is useful at all. Or at least, the way we meet them wasn't interesting, there was no interaction, only a traditional presentation.

    2. We think that they are a great reflection of the society in which they were built/painted. Through this works of art you can get a really good idea of how life was in that time, and by adding all of them up, you can understand why a society or city is how it is today.

    Group 8 (part 2)

    3. We don't think how famous a monument is should determine if it should be better conserved or not. Although we do realize that in reality, it does have an impact (how famous it it) on the way its preserved.

    4. The last supper was amazing, and it was worth seeing. We will never forget all the things we thinked when we first saw it.

    Group 3

1.It's nice to get the chance to meet important authorities while carrying the project but we think it's not necessary because the main idea of this Erasmus is exchanging experiences between students and getting to know new cultures. But it's a good thing that the media came and was interested in this project so that other people can get to know about it and other schools can participate.
2.No, it's not lifeless stuff, it's a piece of art created by an artist that wanted to reflect something. One of the main purposes of a monument or a painting is to transmit the emotions and ideas of the artist. But everyone' s perspective can be different so the work of art can be interpreted in different ways based on the person's personality.

    Group 7
    Group 3 pt.2

3.Yes, you still have to preserve the minor monuments because it's still a piece of art and it's part of the national cultural heritage. This minor monuments are still designed by artists and for them it's important.
    4. Yes, we could have added more activities but the problem was the weather, it was raining so we couldn't go to one of the places we wanted to go (the park of Monza). Since it was raining a small group of people went to an art exhibition (Andy Warhol), and it would have been nice to go there all together.

    Group 4

    1) We think that meeting the authorities and the media is important, becuase they can help us to spread informations about what we are doing. In this way, everyone can understand the importance of the project and they can support us.
    2) We think that it represents another way to live and also emotions that words can't express. To completely understand what a work of art means, you have to know something about it.
    3) It is not important the value of the monument, because even though it's not one of the most important monuments, it's still part of our cultural Heritage and it needs to be preserved.
    4) We've enjoyed our trip in Monza even though it was a pity we couldn't see the Duomo because it was in reconstruction and the garden because of the rain.
