  • ESTONIA: Healthy Eating event at Ridala school on 1st November 2019

Healthy eating is very important for young people therefore took place a nutritionist lecture at our school.

Students learned that eating a wide variety of healthy foods promotes good mental and physical health.

It is also important to eat a variety of foods from each of the five food groups daily, in the recommended amounts.

This event was very interesting and useful. Big thanks to our lecturer Eve Laherand.

SPAIN: Healthy Eating Event on October 2th, 2019

Last Tuesday, October 29th two expert cooks from "Vega" restaurant in Betanzos came to the school to give a talk on healthy eating to the students of 3rd of Secondary Education. They explained the proprieties of the food, the benefits of the cooking time, of the importance of using a good oil, that the food preserves its proprieties better if it is grilled...and after that speech, they put it into practice by cooking a delicious dish: sauteed "seasoned mushrooms", spinach, fresh soya sprouts, chicken and white pepper. As a dessert, they prepared strawberry and banana milkshake.

All the students and even the principal of the school tasted the menu and they liked it a lot! At the same time, they learned a lot about healthy eating habits and an interesting and easy menu to cook at home for their families!

On the same day, the students of 4 of Primary Education elaborated their own "healthy menu" based on the lessons of "healthy eating" they had received in Natural Science. Watching the photos, we can guess they have become real experts!! They prepared varied salads and fruit skewer as a dessert.

AUSTRIA: GESUNDE JAUSE on June 17th, 2019

On June 17, 2019, a local expert from the program "Landwirtschaft macht Schule" came to our school to show and prepare healthy snacks with our second graders. Together they cooked muesli bars, baked whole grain bread and prepared a curd spread to make funny clowns on slices of bread. Everybody enjoyed the lessons and took home the recipes to try them out alone. The program will be continued with more cookery lessons throughout this school year and also visits local farms to find out more about where our food comes from and how it is processed before we can consume it.
