Teachers' evaluation

  • MY IWE EXPERIENCE AS A TEACHER

All teacher participants, having taken part to the whole project as coordinators or to some of the visits and activities, will here share their views on the project and speak about:

    • what the project has brought to them in terms of professional development and team collaboration
    • how the project has impacted their teaching and their relationship to the students
    • their views on migration after their experience in the project
    • personal comments they want to add!
  • My IWE experience as a teacher

    Still a great experience

It was not my first European project. But even though the end was not as it should have been, it was all along the three years a true achievement.

I only met great students, always willing to work with others. At every step the work has been done really well. Each time we've travelled, as teachers, we've learned new ways of teaching both about educational practices and behaviours. I'm impressed by the increasing level of the English language all over Europe. We are happy for the students for whom that experience may give them more self-confidence and openness.

I just hope that teachers will forget the black period we are crossing and will be keen on organizing new partnerships. I wish the best for the people I have met and hope i will see some of them in the future years.
Let's keep fingers crossed and take care!

A very rewarding project ! Jeff (FRANCE)

This project carried out together allowed me to discover new pedagogical practices and to discover a different organisation of school work in the different partner countries we visited.

The theme of migrants, experienced differently by the participating countries, was also a very enriching discovery. The perspective and resources provided by the NGO "Terre des hommes" enabled me to understand this phenomenon through real examples.

More generally, these exchanges allowed us to measure the beautiful diversity of our European cultures and to understand that they were not necessarily an obstacle to the construction of a common future.

The charitable projects carried out within the framework of the project have awakened our pupils to the importance of solidarity. This showed that life together also involves being aware of the needs of the most fragile.

    Elena (CZ)

I have been through many projects before but this was one of the best organized ones. I met new friends, learnt new things, got to know new cultures, languages.
The team of students worked amazingly, even the normally less motivated students did perfect and were very engaged - which was a nice surprise.
The Czech team got togerther very well during the Czech meeting and made a great difference for them even for the future. If it wasn´t for coronavirus pandemics and distant teaching, the impact of the project on the relationships between the teacher and the students and among the students would be even greater.
I am happy about the outcomes, proud of the students to be able to achieve all this.
Great experience - great team- Thanks a lot:-)

    Petra (Finland)

This "IWE" project was truly a great experience and journey into the common European ground we share. The topics and contents were exactly what we need to emphasize and encourage in today's society: togetherness, open-mindedness, sharing, understanding, taking care of those in need. The project had very high aims, and it can only be stated that all those aims were reached through such amazing collaboration. The three outcomes of the project turned out to be incredible and worthwhile. As far as the students' experiences are concerned, it is clear that they gained a myriad of new friends, perspectives and views on how to collaborate towards a more united Europe. The last virtual meeting together was so well organized and meaningful, a great ending to our project. A huge thank you to the coordinating French team, especially Natacha, as well as to all our dear partners. Take care and stay safe!

    Katarzyna (POLAND)

IWE was my first Erasmus experience. I have to say we were lucky and privileged to collaborate with such experienced, resourceful and involved teachers and creative and open-minded students!
Personally, it was one of the most meaningful experiences in my professional career. It gave me a lot of inspiration, ideas, determination to follow new aims and start new challenges. I met wonderful Partners - each of them being a master or a role model in so many different aspects (organisation skills, public speaking, group management, teaching skills, optimistic approach, love of your countries you were so willing to share!)
As for students, after the project I can see that it is really worth involving them in such activities - learning through experiencing is the best method. I was proud of all our students and they did incredibly well. They managed the tasks which were objectively incredibly demanding and they succeeded!

    One of the best (Helena-CR)

The project has been one of the best due to the people I have met and the countries I have visited. Definitely, the time, I spent with the others- teachers and students too, influenced me in my teaching. In Finland, I saw some perfect lessons and the cooperation among students and teachers there was really amazing.
As a teacher from the country in the "middle" of Europe, I do understand the history of migration and in this project, it was a kind of realizing how important it for the next generations is this issue. I still believe very strongly that nations in such a unified Europe must be close and help each other to spread this idea.
I would like to thank all teachers in the project I met and I hope that we do not have/and won´t have so far distance from each other.

    Elise FRANCE

It was my second Erasmus + project. I was less involved that the first time, but anyway it was a rewarding experience. I had the chance to travel to Finland in March 2019 (it sounds like an eternity) and I felt very lucky to meet teachers from all Europe, to talk about our differences and similarities, and to discover the finish customs and way of life. The theme of the project was topical and it helped me to have a more accurate knowledge of migrations. As an economics and social sciences teacher, I feel more aware of this phenomenon !

    Ivana (Czech Republic)

The benefits of projects like this one are enormous. Communication in English, comparing the lifestyles and life values, sharing work experience is very important for all of us. Not only students but even we teachers have made new friends and keep contacts even now in a very difficult time of a coronavirus pandemic. This time leads to isolation and that´s why the European unity and solidarity matter.

    Grażyna (Poland)

The IWE project has been my first one. It is really vital for me since I have learnt a lot ! Sharing and discussing different ideas amongst the IWE friends also gave me a brief insight on how to deal with problems and come up with the best solution. It was awesome !

It has also given my students many benefits. Working in the international teams has made the project a lot more curious and satisfying experience. They put in more effort, gained greater satisfaction. After the project, we are ALL more aware of migrants’ issues which is crucial.

This project has given me a new perception about Erasmus work with an occasion of learning new skills.

Definitely the best value of this program has been the opportunity to meet amazing people that helped me grow and see things from various perspectives.

Thank you my Dear Friends !!!

The most valuable experience! HELEN SP (GR)

I have been partner to other projects but this one was an excellence ! It was organised in detail, it had great moments and actions and it will be unforgettable to everyone who took part in it.
The Erasmus IWE journey started in a warm atmosphere as the people involved were excited about it, and they were keen on sharing ideas and working together in a theme which is very important for every country through Europe.
The topics were collected and matched perfectly with the contents and the final results of the project. The collaboration among the teachers and the students was amazing and I feel honoured to be part of this project which was one of the most valuable experience in my professional life.

    An exhilarating experience (Vasilis Greece)

This project was my first one in which I was involved. It was an amazing European project which gave me the opportunity not only to meet great persons and make friendly relationships but it also brought me in touch with other cultures and ways of life.
We visited new places with beautiful sights and learn a lot of historical event. We came in contact with different educational systems with new ways of teaching which were based on different educational practices and behaviours aspects.
Good student’s team from all countries members worked in any asset. And, when these teams work together, they can manage great achievements.
I am very pleased as far as the final outcome of a Project which helps you to open your mind. It was a great team and also a great experience!

“IWE” project: high level experience (Milta Petropoulou,Greece)

The programme aims to improve the quality of school education, strengthen its European dimension and promote mobility and language learning. Through exchanges and cooperation between schools from different countries, understanding between different European cultures develops. Personal improvement, the development of skills and competences and the cultivation of the concept of European citizen are encouraged, by promoting the free movement of ideas and the recognition of common values, but also respect for national and regional characteristics.
The aim of the programme was to raise students' awareness of diversity issues.
According to the objectives of the programme, students were given the opportunity to:
•Investigate and identify aspects of diversity in their daily lives.
    •Improve communication, social cohabitation skills
    •Develop emotional intelligence.
•To get to know themselves. Knowing each other's diversity to accept their own uniqueness.
The experiences we have gained will be unforgettable!

A life-changing erasmus experience! Olga (Greece)

The IWE-project was a powerful experience that brought changes to my professional way of teaching and to my personal attitude! The pleasure of being involved in this erasmus project started earlier before the great experience of travelling. To work in teams brought us together to learn by actively being engaged in this real-world and personally meaningful project. The students created a public product and a presantation for a real audience by developing critical thinking and creativity. They learned by acting in a high standard which included analysis, synthesis and evaluation. The views on the migration topic are now more developed in depth-understanding.The whole project improved our communication. The project added a new standpoint in the way of thinking and acting as a citizen of each country and at the same time as a citizen of the european community. I wish the best for all the people I met in this project. Thank you so much!

An incredible life experience (Paco Gómez - Spain).

This project has let me to develop and increase my skills using English language. I have learnt new pedagogical instruments used by my project colleagues. The human factor cannot be measured, how my students had felt visiting a new country, the first time for majority of them, and how confident they have felt using their language knowledges to exchange idea and experiences with other students. That has been the best just along with the marvellous collaboration with all the teachers. I feel that now I have a marvellous pile of friends shared in 5 countries in Europe, and they can find their friend here in Spain. Now me and my school have more real information in relation with organization and means used to help them, and now we fix our view in our closer environment more than in the tv, here we can help easier.

    Teija (Finland)

IWE was my second Erasmus+ project. In this one I wasn't the coordinator for our school and thus participated a little less but as always, bringing pupils and teachers from different countries together is one of the best possibilities schools can offer: learning to work with people from different cultures, learning about other cultures, making new acquaintances, experiencing and sharing a variety of things. I am grateful for having been part of this. Also the theme of the project was current and very important.

    Roï (Greece)

IWE: A project which connected our identities in order to learn to live together in a Europe friendly for every citizen. Greece is a small country from which departed but also arrived millions of migrants. For this reason the participation of our school in this project filled us with emotion, students and teachers, who were met, had the experience, interacted, collaborated, created, learned, had fun in an ambience of friendship, coexistence and safety. We all had something to gain, some behaviours to change, a piece of ourselves to improve. Congratulations to all the inspirers and the partners from the six countries!

Enriching experience (Fernando Sánchez García (Spain))

Participating in this project has been a new opportunity for me to expand my communication skills in English. I have also been able to get to know the culture of other European countries, always from the perspective of education. I have found the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the classroom very interesting, both in its communicative and creative dimensions for the students. With this project I have been able to implement new working techniques in the classroom that I have met in my visit abroad, as well as the exchange of ideas and information with the different participants in the project. In short, a positive and enriching experience.

    Paco Muñoz (SP)

I value my participation in this project very positively. The coexistence between students and teachers has been very enriching, both from a professional and personal point of view.
We have gained a better understanding of the difficulties faced by the most socially disadvantaged people in their integration into the European way of life in the 21st century.
We have also been shown the educational and cultural reality in the participating countries.
I would like to thank the organisers for the opportunity I have had to collaborate in this project.

Natacha (English teacher from France, general coordinator)

When I first had the idea of this project nearly 4 years from now, I had high expectations but I was far from picturing such a successfull and enriching pedagogical and human experience. I have to say that it is a great pride to see how efficient and fruitful this collaboration has been and that it has nothing but strenghtened our links with already long time partners.

Natacha (English teacher from France, general coordinator) - Part 2

The high quality of the cooperation and the richness of skills brought this project to an other level of collaboration, never reached before. It allowed us to get deep in the different subjects and to root our work in the students' experiences and visions. I hope that this project will stay a milestone for the participants, and that it will have a long time impact in their lives. Zillion of thanks to all participants, you all brought your stone to the beautiful wall we have managed to build together!

A great achievement despite the pandemic (François - France)

It was my fourth multilateral partnership but this one was particular because for once I was one of the general coordinators with M Hansen. Creating, managing and last evaluating such a project required a great amount of time and energy. But fortunately, that was fruitful thanks to the great colleagues and students from all over Europe. Another satisfaction was that no tensions emerged at all, all over the 2,5 years. All the problems were solved smoothly, what was for us coordinators really comfortable. I think we can be proud by the outcomes but also of the involvement of all the school communities. Of course, the pandemic did not allow us to finish with the two receptions in the European Parliament in Strasbourg and in the UNO buildings in Geneva. And I sincerely hope that after the pandemic we will all have the deep desire to restart such rewarding adventures.

Being European today! (Emmanuelle - France)

Joining this project made me realise it was high time I left my class room to explore new horizons ! I was astonished by the energy and the enthusiasm this project created. It made the school more alive and a more vibrant place both for teachers and students. The culminating point was the trip to Spain for me. I am still moved by the welcome we got and the experience of genuine communication we shared there. For me it embodied a concrete way of being European, a common ground to share strong values and experience tolerance and brotherhood.
This project also allowed me to discover my colleagues : spend time together and discover their wonderful qualities!
In a word I am proud and thankful to have been able to offer such an opportunity to the students to understand what it means to be European today.

Learning to be European! ( Christine from France)

I’m very glad to have joined the Erasmus Project, which allowed me to share my experience in welcoming migrants at home with colleagues and students from six countries of Europe , just because brotherhood is one of the European values . Solidarity must be in the heart of our lives and the project has tied strong relations between us for the future. I’m sure some of the students will meet again and it is same for the adults.
I enjoyed to travel to Brno with Jeff and the pupils and discover this famous town and country side around, guided by the remarkable Czech team. I learnt a lot about new pedagogical exercices and was so happy to see how pupils and teachers were involved in the project. The tasks were high but the productions were interesting and meaningful.

    Christine part 2

The IWE project gave me energy and enthusiasm, to explore new ways of teaching and also more confidence in collaborative work with colleagues.
I’m so sad that the pandemic didn't allow us to do the final meeting in France with the great moments of reception in the European Parliament in Strasbourg and in the UNO buildings in Geneva. But Natacha and François have done such a great work to organize the distance meeting that the feeling of inachievement was less painfull.
Thanks to all of the organisers and participants for such a great work.
