  • The newcomer students made drawings about their language skills. Some of them knew even 5 or six languages!

Theses paintings represents how  the students from Sweden feel about their different langauge skills.

Kurdish is my native language and I learned other languages here in Sweden. I have put Kurdish on my body and head because Kurdish is the most important language for me. And Arabic is like my right arm because I like talking on weekdays with friends and in reality I use my right arm and hand the most. Persian is on my left arm, I can speak Persian but I speak Persian rarely the same as my left arm. And Svenska is my right leg because it's my everyday language and I use that very often. It's as important as Kurdish for me. English on my left leg because I can speak English but I have not had the chance to use it as the main language.

And I can say a few words in Spanish so I thought it was necessary to write that too.

I draw Afghanistans flag because I grew up there and Dari is my mother tongue. It is simalar to Persian and you can see the Persian colors at my left leg.

The Swedish flag represents me living in Sweden since I was 13 years old, and it becomes two years since I arrived here.

I also know Urdu,  my right leg, and a bit pakistani. I am also learning English now.

The yellow represents my mother tongue Dari. My soul is almost full of yellow.

The blue color means that I came to Sweden two and a half years ago.

I feel I have lived in Sweden for a long time and this is my second language.
